## How it works

1. **Paste your link**: Paste a web address that starts with http or https. If you leave the scheme out, https:// is added for you.
2. **Fill in the tags**: Tap a channel to set the source to that channel and the medium to social, then name your campaign. Term and content are optional.
3. **Copy the tagged link**: The link keeps your existing parameters and fragment, and replaces any of the five utm tags it already had.

## Frequently asked questions

### What are UTM parameters?

Tags added to the end of a link, such as utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign. Analytics tools that read them can show which link a visit came from.

### What should I put in source, medium and campaign?

Source is where the link is posted, such as instagram or a newsletter. Medium is the kind of channel, such as social or email. Campaign names the push, such as spring_sale.

### What happens to a link that already has parameters?

They stay as they are, and the utm tags are added after them and before any fragment. If the link already has a source, medium, campaign, term or content tag, yours replaces it, and an old term or content tag is removed when its field here is empty.

### Why are my values changed?

Values are trimmed, lowercased and have spaces turned into underscores, because some analytics tools treat Spring and spring as two different values. The link shows exactly what will be sent.
