# Link shortener

> With a free account, shorten a link, choose its name and download a QR code. Every address is checked for malware and phishing first, and links do not expire.

Canonical page: https://www.socialfaktory.com/tools/link-shortener

Paste a long URL, choose a custom short name if you like, and get a short link with a QR code. Each address is checked for malware and phishing before the link is made. A free account is needed to make a link, and links do not expire.

## How it works

1. **Paste your link**: Paste a web address that starts with http or https. If you leave the scheme out, https:// is added for you. You can also choose a short name for the end of the link.
2. **Sign in once**: A free account is needed to make a link. Your form is kept while you sign in, and the link is made when you come back.
3. **Copy the link or the QR code**: Copy the short link or download its QR code as an SVG. Your links stay on this page with their clicks, and each one has an on and off switch.

## What you get

- Every address is checked for malware and phishing before the link is made.
- Choose the end of the link, such as spring-sale, or let one be made for you.
- Download a QR code for any link as an SVG.
- Links do not expire, and each one shows how many times it was opened.

Up to 20 an hour and 50 a day. You cannot change where a link points, but you can turn it off and make a new one.
